2016 Hike for Better Hearing Sponsorship Information
If you watched the video you have seen a small glimpse of the work of the Fisher Foundation for Hearing Health Care. A six year old child with brain cancer heard his mother laugh and cry for the first time in two years. Riley heard his father tell him he loved him and was proud of him. It was heart rendering, gratifying and profound. But most important, hearing treatment will change the life of a child and everyone around him for the rest of his life.
More information enters the brain through your sense of hearing than all other senses combined. The ability to listen is the most important aspect of a child’s cognitive, functional and social development. That’s how children learn. The ability to understand the spoken word is predictive of future academic achievement, comprehension and social skills.
I founded Hearing Health Center in 1984 because my father had a significant hearing problem. If affected his life and the lives of everyone around him; my mother, his friends, co-workers and children. He missed so much of my life. It didn’t have to be that way.
Today, I wear hearing aids and experience, first hand, what millions of people face when they don’t hear clearly. It’s isolating, embarrassing and painful.
I established the Fisher Foundation for Hearing Health Care in 2005 to provide hearing services and treatment to those in need. We provide education to the community, ear protection to our troops and hearing aids to children and adults.
We need your help to continue our mission!
